As my wife and I packed up to head to Nantucket for the weekend, I thought about all of those vacationers getting ready to hit the roads for some greatly needed rest and relaxation.
According to a May 12 AAA press release, the organization projects the number of Americans traveling over the Memorial Day holiday weekend will increase 1.5 percent from 2008 with approximately 32.4 million travelers taking a trip of 50 or more miles away from home.
Sadly, no matter where we go, the beach, the mountains, the lake or even abroad, most likely our laptops go with us. With mission-critical company data stored on employee laptops, companies must take every precaution to ensure that their employees are using secured networks when working remotely and also that these computers, no matter where they are located, are being backed up frequently and password encrypted.
